Can we PLEASE STOP this sh1te about playing Valencia at RB! He's a winger! Rafael is the new number 2, first of all that speaks volumes to me and Rafa, given a regular run in the team and an improvement on his defending has the potentail to be our first permanent RB since G. Nev. We also have Jones and Smalling who can play there. The fact is Valencia, Nani, Young, Kagawa, Rooney, RVP and Hernandez cant all play in the same team, BUT that creates oppourtunites for squad rotation and numerous exciting partnerships, so stop putting AV7 at RB please!!!
and here endeth the lesson!..well done...

    BizarreMind:
One plays in La Liga the other in the PL.

One comes from Ecuador the other from Brazil.

One plays for Manchester United one plays for Barca.

One is a defender the other is a winger.

I am probably guessing by the way alves plays he must have started playing football as a winger further up the field but adapted his game as a right back. I see similarities between the two and in my personal opinion a player like valencia should be in the team but not in a more withdrawn role at right back bombing down the wings and putting in crosses. I believe in today's modern game midfielder players should have that bit more technical qualities about them to play in that area I.e nani. Valencia is a great player, a great team player in fact who I feel deserves a place in the team as he has hard working qualities which can be better utilized at right back.

play a three man midfield with a defencive minded deep laying
Good line up This is where Hargo came in useful because of his engine allowing him to get back into that position. Tunnicliffe has the same engine.
At the end of training Sir Matt required the players to practice the things they were bad at for the last half hour
    Duncan Edwards went home

Re: What is the difference between Antonio Valencia and Danny Alves?

Actually the OP has a valid point. They are very similar, both are fast and extremely strong players. We did play Valencia in a Alves role a few times last season. One of them was in the 5-0 win over Wigan, and Valencia were among the best players in the match, making great runs down the flank. People keep saying that you can't make a nr 7 play as a wing back etc etc. I think that is bull. If we play a three man midfield with a defencive minded deep laying midfielder who can cover for Valencia when he makes his runs, then I believe it will work superb.... amd it would alow for this lineup, which to me is the strongest.

Re: What is the difference between Antonio Valencia and Danny Alves?

The Brazillian one is lucky enough to get his ass in a team which has too many good players to carry him around and hide his mistake. What he is best of is getting the opponent team players booked or red carded. If he is any where near what his hype, he should have been able to take Maicon's place when Maicon is still on his prime.

LAV as a right back resembles of Maicon. Powerful attacking force, solid defense, great work rate. If he was ever honed to play as right back from the start, now we should have the right best wing back in the world.

we already got a right back, his name is rafael de silva, and the kid is good,a little erratic, but generally good,he"ll be here for a long time,we dont need to have an out and out winger as a defender, why?,and when was the last no.7 for us,a right back?,it not going to happen i"m afraid...

Why shove AV into the RB position? Alves is not as good as him.
