Yeah the Compaq would me my choice as well, because I've got one my self but not that model. And so far i cant complain, but the Acer is just as good and in my opinion the most reliable Laptop manufacturer out there, mainly because they actually manufacture their own laptops, whereas  other companies like Sony and others buy laptops from manufacturers and then stick their name on it.

I know quite a lot about Laptops and personally i wouldn't choose any of the two; only because i think you can get better for the same money or less.

However; if them two are your only choices then i would definitely go for the Toshiba L300, as although the Advent probably has better specs, the Toshiba however, is a lot more reliable. Which in my opinion is the most important quality when buying a Laptop, as a lot tends to go wrong with Laptops and they don't tend to last long either, if not treated well.

So go for the Toshiba L300.

Anyways, i'm going to PC World on Sunday to buy a new laptop but i can't decide between these two laptops.

 On the contrary, you should go for Advent 6411.  2 gb ram is fine according to me and if ur gonna play games like fifa09, then you`ll need atleast 2.4 ghz.

Besides, it also gives ya 200gb memory which is no joke.

i would definitly go with the Toshiba, 3GB of RAM is pretty good + Toshiba is a very reliable brand (good after sales service) however, i really dont like AMD processing chips. So if you can get a Toshiba with all those specs but with an Intel chip instead. Also the video cards are OK, but if your into hi-res games, i wouldn't expect to play too many of them too smoothly.

All in all though, they are both pretty good machines. I'm just a little biased to Toshiba.
