I am pretty sure last season we won 5-6 straight games1-0 and we did win the league. as long as we are creating chances there isn't anything to worry about the lads will start putting them away

    Oom Tom,

    Thanks, mate.

I think Ronaldo is getting a week's holiday. Let's hope he comes back fully rejuvenated for the Chelsea game. We need him for that.

It is interesting that if we analyse our performance so far with that of last season, we follow exactly the same pattern. Except that we were No 2 last year this time instead of the current 3rd place (would have been 2nd if we had played the games on hand) Last season we got the 1st spot in the 29th game and from then we maintained that, till then we were oscillating between 1 and 2.

But both Liverpool and Chelsea are better than what they were last season at this stage.  Looks like this season will go the wire with all three capable of making it.

    Happy New Year to all!!

    imMUrt41,

Rafael got inducted when Wes Brown was around. In fact when Rafael got his first start in the league Wes Brown was on the bench, because Rafael played so well in the pre season.

Anyway, we are lucky to have got him and I eagerly wait for the introduction of Fabio. Hope it happens soon, for the coming Carling cup match.

    purefootball,

I respect your opinion, but I disagree that Park is a genuine winger. Any decent winger can cross the ball which park obviously is not good at. How often does he take a corner kick for instance. 9 times out of 10 Rooney ends up taking corners from the left side, not his job we need him in the middle, in the mix so to speak.

Carrick I was led to believe was a great passer of the ball, I am not convinced that that is true but I will give him the benefit of the doubt and keep my eye on him for now.

Carrick and Fletcher our best defensive midfielders? This beggars the question as to why we were playing defensive midfielders in a game against Middlesboro.

Ronaldo is not even trying to emulate his magnificent best. If he was trying and fell short of 42 then OK but no passion and drifting through games? Pogetetz is a thug and a bully. Have United cited him on the video proof?

For me 1 - 0 is scary and not good enough.                          Cool

Re: Post Match Reaction vs Middlesborough

I agree with you, the problem with man utd is the central midfielders. We can't score goal because we are playing with two defensive midfielders and there is a link missing between the midfield and the forward line. That has been proved right by substituting Scholes for Fletcher. As soon as the scholes enter the match there's has been more creativity because scholes move to a more offensive midfielder position than fletcher and carrick was the defensive midfielder. This liberates Berbatov to a more advanced position in the box where he is best at. Berbatov stop coming into midfield to compensate the lack of creativity and that's where the goal comes from. One ball to berbatov and 1 goal...I think Berbatov should be given more opportunities to attacking inside the box rather than playing outside.

Ronaldo's finish not too efficient compared to last season is also causing a problem. If we closely analysed last season's we ll see that Ronaldo's efficiency help man utd winning both champions league and the premiership.Since Ronaldo's operation he has not returned to the level he played last season and manutd are not scoring a lot of goals.

The defense is rather solid with Evan surely the next 'Ferdinand'. Only weakness is left back. Although O'shea is defending well, we are missing the overlapping of Evra.

Hope we will find the net more often.

Carrick and Scholes should be first line up.

    Oom Tom:

Scholesy should have started the match. Until he and Neville came on Rooney and Berbatov were constantly having to fall back to get possession of the ball. That is the midfields job.

The defence was really good and Evans is a diamond.  So OK we won but was it good enough? You tell me ?           Cool                Sad

    100% right

    A few things worry me:

We can't create many real goal chances-we're constantly attacking, but in most cases can't really be a big treath..I think it's due to the bad job that our midfielders do right now.We need Anderson and Scholes. We miss too many  chances-the fact that we've won a lot matches only scoring one goal also supports my words.

We were quite fortunate to win last night as i did not see a goal coming. There are a number of problems with the team at the moment. Firstly, both Rooney and Berbatov are dropping deep at the same time which means theres nobody in the box to latch onto passes/crosses. Also I don't think Park should be starting the amount of games he does. He works very hard but thats the only thing that he does offer. He rarely makes key passes and his shooting is always appalling and when we need a goal I have no confidence at all that he can get one. I would much rather play Nani at home as he offers a greater goal threat.

(Rafael is exceptional, he needed only one game to take over from Gary Neville!!)

Let's not forget he's there also due to the absense of Brown. But he's just great ain't he? And they say his bro's better!!
