Re: Do you think Beckham was rubbish after he left United

No he is still quality now, althougth it is apparent that he doesnt take the Galaxy thing to seriously and I think he knows it was a mistake him enjoying his time at AC was proof.

He was up for it at Real and really up for it when he played for his childhood team in United but you can see it when he plays for England he is still quality perhaps better suited to being in centre of midfield rather then on the wing as he has never been the fastest player and particulary now the game spesh in england requires wingers to be fast.

I think his wife Victoria had alot or influence on the move to Galaxy and if someonse offered you silly amounts of money for different promos and magazine stories you would take it. I didnt think Beckham got too big for his boots he always knew how lucky he was to play for us.

Fergie treated him the same way that he treated Ruud. I love Ruud but in the end it was time to go as he was causing toruble and was moody etc. but my one thing I never agreed with was the decision to sell Becks you could see when he was dropped against Madrid in the Champs League he looked very hurt by it and came on and banged him 2 goals.

Not to mention the transfer fee we got 25 Mill for a player we built into an icon and Madrid made that money back in about month with shirt sales. Joke

He will always be my Fav player ever as you can tell I am very Pro Beckham :D

I cannot understand anything of what you are saying. I have never said to Ronaldo to f-off as you said. I said that Ronaldo is a lot better player than Becks and I have never said anything bad about Ronaldo except for his character. Ronaldo is the greatest player on earth but you are not a real fan. How can you say that Ferguson is stupid enough. This is disrespect towards the club and the greatest manager on earth. If Sir Alex never sold David then we wouldnt see that boy Ronaldo with a red shirt.

41 yellow cards and 4 red cards for Real Madrid

    Years Club App (Gls)2
    1993–2003 Manchester United 265 (62)
    1995 Preston North End (loan) 005 0(2)
    2003–2007 Real Madrid 116 (13)
    2007– Los Angeles Galaxy 030 0(5)
    2009 Milan (loan) 014 0(2)

After he left United he was rubbish. He tried to become the Beckham of United but never managed it.

I don't see any evidence that his performances were rubbish when he left us.

Re: Do you think Beckham was rubbish after he left United

Becks decline was slow when he left the Reds.  He performed hard and admirably for Real.  Never the less he was not the same player and SAF sold him at the right time.

As for his time in LA, he has been rubbish.  Becks has always been known as a man to give his all.....NOT IN LA.

Becks has been uninterested as the level of football was not as high.  Freddie Ljunberg said last week that MLS is similiar to the Dutch league or there about.  Becks has been playing against mediocre talent and just does not want to apply himself.  Not to mention, besides Donovan, he was playing with a bunch of clowns.

Becks is still a worthwhile player, if playing on a mid-table squad while coming off the bench.

He was still quality at Madrid. Becks was always my favourite player, and i watched every match of his at Real, and he was the Becks of Manchester United. Great free kicks, great passing and passion.

Re: Do you think Beckham was rubbish after he left United

Look I saw Beckham playing in his prime and I am not a scouser. It's like saying Fernando torres is rubbish cause is a scouser player. I am a United fan. Still Becks never had the pashion or leadership that Keane had or the flair of the welsh wizard called Ryan Giggs. Sir Alex didn't like Becks and the effect he had on the team so he hit him in the head with a boot and sold him and of story. Becks was never as highly rated as Cristiano Ronaldo is for Sir Alex. Sir Alex did everything he could to make Ronaldo stay. But end of story Ronaldo went to the Mob and we can built even a better squad. Also Cry baby Ronnie as you called him the same is Becks. Why he went to La Galaxy do you think? Because the stantard of MLS is high?

    Gavinio:

No offence taken.  I don't expect people to automatically with what I write and football is and always has been a game of opinion.

I rate Beckham so highly because I saw the impact he made when came into the team back in the mid-1990's and during his prime at United was a more valuable player than Ronaldo was.  They are different players in how they play the game but I would take the team ethic that Beckham had over Ronaldo's any day.  Beckham was prepared to put in a shift defensively, something that Ronaldo never was.  Look at how many goals we lost through Ronaldo losing the ball in key areas and not tracking back.

Possibly the best recent example I can think of was against Villa at home towards the end of last season where Villa's second goal came as a result of Ronaldo losing it and not tracking the player back to get a tackle in.  That could have been catastrophic but for a last ten minute flourish.  Contrast that in the same game with Tevez who after losing the ball in a similar area tracked the player all the way to United's 18 yard box and came away with the ball to break the attack up.

During the 1998/99 season to the 200/01 season our midfield quartet of Giggs, Scholes, Keane and Beckham were as close to the perfect midfield as you could ever get.  Each had the ability to pick a pass out but were also prepared to put a shift in defensively - even Scholesy and his own brand of tackling that we love so much!

Beckham when he came into the team pretty much hit the ground running whereas it took Ronaldo three years to finally begin to hit the heights we saw in 206/07 and 2007/08.  The thing Ronaldo and Beckham have in common that each of them in their last season at the club saw their performances drop off but Beckham had achieved peak performances for longer than Ronaldo so that is why I would have Beckham in my all time team ahead Ronaldo.  Had Ronaldo stayed a few more season then perhaps it would be a different case.

PS Scholes rules all - my all time favourite United player.

First of all I think Gavinio is right on and I also think that redforlife might actually be a scouser.  I think that he either forgets or he never really saw Becks play in his prime.  Scholes and Keane were great, but Becks was magical.  60 yard cross field passes directly on Giggs' boot, chipping goal keepers from 40 yards, free kicks that bent 10 yards from right to left.  Xabi Alonso isn't fit to scrub Becks' boots.

Homage to Becks over, he fell prey to the same thing that did in RVN and Cry Baby Ronnie.  He started to believe his own press.  After that his head got big and he started thinking of himself before the club (same as Cry Baby Ronnie).  Once that happens the gaffer is always going to show you the door.  The only difference between Becks and Cry Baby Ronnie is that the gaffer thought enough of Becks to hit him in the head with a boot to try and knock some sense into him.  In the end the outcome will be the same...off to the Mob and an ruined career.
