    Re: Some news from Spain

none of these big names like huntelaar, aguero and whoever else will sign for us, and we don't wan't 'em now!

benzema didnt come and plan B was owen for free to save cash for the long run and also his transfer and ronaldos move to madrid this year rather than last coincide with us BUYING DOUGLAS COSTA, owens on a 2 year contract 'cause fergie believes thats how long it will take for douglas to adjust and develop, also douglas turned 18 this year, so he's now eligible to move out of brazil...thats why we kept hold of ronnie for that extra year!

Fergies always wanted the next big brazilian player, ever since we missed out on ronaldinho.

and many believe douglas is the next big thing.

I expect him more than anyway to come to United.

but this is just my opinnon.

already World Class stars has Fergie signed over the years? Not many. We've very rarely gone for top stars unless they're already based in the UK and as for Fergie not being used to missing out: Berbatov the first time around, Van Der Sar before he went to Juve, Ronaldinho, Shearer twice, Rooney before he came through at Everton, Michael Owen before he went to Liverpool, Stephen Gerrard? The list goes on

I know, chicktamonie. As you said "not many over the years", which means not much experience.  Looks to me as if there was some "we will have a lot of cash, so where is the problem" (this "lots of cash" is another new aspect) within a really complicated situation  - Europe short of really good strikers, wingers, left backs ... and an inflated market because of Real Madrid doing their most important (most expensive) signings first.

Fair enough Nightstar, I simply took that other than it was intended.

If we don't manage anything this season I don't see it as too much of a problem, We managed with youngsters before and that turned out ok with the likes of Beckham, Scholes, Giggs and the rest so let's see if our new crop are up to it

    Re: Some news from Spain

Not sure what the tabloids are saying over there, I'm confident IF there is going to be signings it'll be in the next week, in preperation for the preseason Asia tour.

I'm only really interested in 2 outfield players, Aguero or Costa, Obviously a goalkeeper would be nice but VDS has atleast a year left to play, I think Aguero from a marketing perspective will have immediate effect where Costa will have to develop abit further first.

The current situation, official statements from Gremio/Atletico Madrid I haven't seen any *Official* trustable sources in well forever really, Will ferguson bid that high? doubtful, would the fans like him to, yes.

Atletico will have to get money from somewhere, they're after some players to add more stability and also a Argentinian youngster I believe they've produced Torres and Aguero so great scouts for Atletico in past 2 or so years, I believe they are in europe yes, but I also believe they're a selling club.

Take your point. Perhaps we are entering a new era in the complex World of international transfers.

I believe SAF has a couple of big names being worked upon.

From where you look at things who would your money be on as the most likely acquisitions - assuming United throw say £60-65m at it over the next few weeks (nb. I think some may be held back for the January window)?

I tell you my view, will be another very populat posting. ;-)

It´s not a new era. It´s a new era for Fergie. Seeing all movements last year and especially this year, it shows that there was enough time to prepare, but nothing is really prepared.

Fergie is not used to this situation: Having loads of money ... and nothing to buy. Others like Hoeness, even Real Madrid know this situation since a long time already. It needs to make friends with president of other clubs, prepare strategies long before action happens .... all that is a completely new situation for United.

If this Ronaldo situation had happened to Hoeness, he had prepared his necessary signings, completing them within the month of June (what he actually did like that, only on a lower level obviously).

"Reality bites United" - I put that link, because the title is just great. It expresses exactly my opinion.

I think you're wrong on this one. We're in the same situation this year as we were when Chelsea first started flexing their muscles, Waiting to see who Real go for before we make our moves, It's quite hard to plan in this kind of situation because as I suspect you well know Fergie and Manchester Utd will not be dragged into bidding wars.

Be careful Nightstar your Claws are beginning to show lol

     Nightstar your talkin *** lad!

i know for a fact Fergies been monitoring Douglas Costa since he was 15 years old! if thats not plannin fi don't know what is! and fergies already come out and said ''we've done well to keep ronaldo for this long'' so he obviously knew ronnie was gonna leave sooner rather than later!

and the only concrete evidence of us wanting ANY  player is douglas costa aswell, we've had a trial and loan bid rejected by Gremio!

Thanks nightstar for summarising the spanish toilet papers...ooops sorry....newspapers I meant.
Nothing skillful or helpful in that. If you like I can extract transfer news paragraphs from our press for you too. Do you think it will make you any wiser?

They know nothing more than you do and speculate with very big imaginations, exactly the same way as the British sunday rags do.

Notice how not one paper in this country or in Europe guessed the Owen transfer??
The clubs are masters at keeping details secret unless they want them to be public knowledge.

So all this rumour and speculation and your supposed 'inside knowledge' is an utter waste of time......

yeah good point but what do we do when rooney and berba are fit? stick a 40million pound player on the bench?

or move rooney out to the left just so aguero can start?

    don't think so

it's just wishful thinkin and newspaper gossip

i dont think for one second aguero will be joinin united.

and i'd rather see the likes of kiko and nani be given more of a chance than splashin out millions on players who have never even played english football!

and if fergie really wanted aguero he would of gone for him instead of owen when benzema rejected us

    like i sad wishful thinkin.

Benzema and Owen play mainly as first strikers (also Berb).  Rooney and Aguero prefer to play as second strikers.   Therefore Owen and Aguero are different types of strikers and essentially have different roles.

Whether SAF will want Aguero or not I have no idea, but I am beginning to think it would be good buy.  However, Aguero may not be in his plans.......we shall have to wait and see. Smile

do you remember a certain cristiano ronaldo pledging himself to utd, just a few weeks before he left and slammed the door in utds face?

i dont think promises mean anything in football you should know this

I agree. Kaka said the exact same thing when Manchester City offered millions for him he rejected it and says he wants to stay at AC Milan and hopefully captain it one day. 5-6months later he's off to Real Madrid.

I know. That's why I don't miss Ronaldo at all. He did his best = a lot, but the heart was in another place.Could you Avijeet ever think Rooney doing that? There are those truly dedicated, but unfortunaly there are less and less of them nowadays...

Your point about Ribery is well made. If United fans fear our ability to attract the big names, how much more difficult is it proving for the Bundesliga?  As you say what use is the money if you cannot replace anything close to like with like!

May sound strange now, but it is easier for the Bundesliga at the moment: Hoeness is very much used to it, Fergie is not! ;-)
