    Jayded1987:

True, but you still need someone with the presence of mind to be in the right place at the right time, as well as have the ability to clinically finish - which Ronaldo did.

    Yes.

When Ronaldo was here, the team was made to revolve around him.

But I feel that now because Ronaldo has left,Fergie will probably change his tactics and it could possibly benefit someone like the strikers.

I think getting someone like Valencia who also tracks back frequently thereby enabling Rooney to play in his natural position is already an indication that Fergie's going to be relying on his strikeforce to deliver the goods !Cool

Agree with Ashish that the worriers are those who have seen united as a one man team.  Ronaldo dazzled, he was an entertainer, his own style and thats what he liked to do.  But one person can never do everything, the other guys perhaps quiter are always the reason titles are won and play is successful.

    Yeah.

The backbone of the team is still strong.

Ronaldo wouldn't have scored many goals if the players around him weren't good.

Jordan da number 1 aussie red:

There is no NEED to buy anymore players for any position, we have a very promising young side who will play good football, you do not need a gallery of world class stars to be a great side, all you need is one true star which we have in rooney, a hard working midfleild in fletcher and anderson, some creativity in carrick, some tricks and skill in nani and berbatov, some pace and energy in park and valencia a good defence in rio, vida and evans, good full backs in rafael, evra, brown, a good keeper which we have two of them, so I do see any parts of the squad that need boosting, I think that we will see a lot of good football this season with this side.

    Hmmm, wrong.

We have lost our top goalscorer, we are going to lose two midfielders in Giggs and Scholes at the end of next year I suspect, we've also lost the ace up our sleeve in Tevez.

To say we dont need anymore signings suggests to me that you are about as insightful as three colour blind hedgehogs, in a bag.

Agree with Ashish that the worriers are those who have seen united as a one man team.  Ronaldo dazzled, he was an entertainer, his own style and thats what he liked to do.  But one person can never do everything, the other guys perhaps quiter are always the reason titles are won and play is successful. All year people have been saying how jealous they are of the squad, commentators too and they certainlly see teams as teams.  Gerrard and Lampard praised amongst others, they are great authoroties having played against united.  United has so much talent and perspective talent.  It is brilliant the number of young guys coming through at least we can rest assured that the future is being built.  Look how many players SAF has turned into success stories.  SAF trusts his players and none of them would be here if they weren't up to scratch.  I completely trust Fergie, he has a real knack for choosing them.  The way some people are talking it's like uniteds lost 15 players or something.  It's like peoople are blind to the talent already here, it's staring them right in the face.  The team has a bit of everything.  At the end of the day the best and most loyal united players are still here, they are the key players who will do it for united as a together unit- not one of the players are selfish with the ball.  It's always been a mark of united that real team element and it will be as strong next season as ever (perhaps more so as Ronaldo's gone, not blaming the guy but there was a-lot of shifting about and he became a great focus, distracting from that old team ethic a little).  There are so many fans that have faith in these guys and Fergie I do too, the loss of two players is no fiasco it's happened before but united are still strong- the may be a little diffferent but change is never a bad thing.  What a squad united has, there is so much good and there is a-lot of excement thinking about the football played.  It has never been uniteds style to buy big anyway, why start now?  Canot wait til the season kicks of, the summer just drags without united.

With a pair like these not even the scousers are going to get many in!

Even though the squad has been weakened by the departures of Ronaldo and Tevez, the backbone of this team is still strong and we still have players in the team capable of winning us games.

I feel that most people who are saying that the team is very weak and we're going to be doomed are the same people who have always thought that we are a one man team.

Totally agree! our squad is quality as it is! Bringing in overrated and over priced players will just push the quality young players we have coming through the ranks backwards. Im sick of hearing people on here slating the players we have.

I think the average age of a person wanting to spend £40million quid on 1 player is 12. Total lack of common sense! united will be s**t hot next season.

I agree with the OP.  I am quite happy with the squad that is in place now and think that they are poised for another haul.

Fanboyism at it's best. Our midfield is not good enough. Open your eyes.

Everyone who thinks our midfield isn't good enough

It was good enough last summer?   so why isn't it good enough this summer

Just because barca ruined us in midfield just means they have class midfielders. so what we dont have to be the best in every position

    we have Carrick,Hargreaves,Anderson,Fletcher,Possebon,Valencia,Giggs,Nani,Park,Obertan

and Rafael and Fabio can play on either wing

and who is a serious target we are after that is mid

    Costa?  maybe

Young?  dont think we want him

Who the hell is saying that? I can assure you all that with our current squad, we won't even be able to win the premier league, let alone the champions league. We need two world-class players: a striker like Fabiano, and a midfielder like Ribery or David Silva. Seems like it's going to take another ten years for us to win the champions league again considering the purchases we have made so far. All three are good for the bench. None of them deserves being in the starting line up. World Class Players, That's it, or we will win the F.A cup at most next season. Mark my words guys.

dude..i have seen you post here a bit now..and i have never seen you say anything positive. that wouldnt matter if there was nothing to be positive about. but there is.

the season where ronaldo got the 42 goals..he did play as a winger. that is why it was so astonishing. last season..he was mostly played uptop..especially in the big games. united changed their entire philosophy to suit the qualities of this one man. brilliant qualities no doubt. but it affected our usual passing game. now that he is gone..sir alex is gunning up again to play with wingers. real wingers who put crosses in.

our midfield is more than enough to win us the premiership. and it is more than enough to compete in the champions league. barcelona are a completely different team, unlike no other. can you point out a few midfielders for me who you think can stop the trio of xavi, iniesta and toure? there is NONE. and that is what YOU have to accept. we will bring midfielders through the ranks..anderson is an amazing prospect no matter what the scum say..ljajic will join us in januay..he is another talent that sir alex will mould.

the only midfielders that i think we would want right now are fabregas or alonso. that is of course not happening. (mascherano contrary to popular belief is not all that great..he completes five yard passes either horizontal or behind..slows liverpool down.) or toure. he isnt leaving barcelona surely. who? any names?

the emphasis at united has always been at a combination of youth and experience. we have not really lost any experience. and we have some fantastic young players coming through. i am not saying there should be no new signings. but if there arent..we will be alright till january.

take a break from the real madridesque mentality of putting a couple of big names together and hoping against hope to see fireworks. there will be fireworks at the bernabeau this season. and it will be displayed by barcelona when they wipe the floor with madrid. xavi and iniesta are still better any day than kaka and diarra. any day.

    rant over.

we will win the 19th with this lot.

Our team is complete now, only problem is Hargo we need a natural DM in the team. Hope he can come back in time.

If Owen comes back fit it would be like buying another world class player which wouold make RM eyes water. Some people do not realise how good he actually is. In my opinion an unbelievable valuable and talented player.
