I think our squad is strong in all departments at the moment, so the players im choosing are based more on future potential, versatility and marketing use, as opposed to picking five pure superstars (big name players have egos, and too many egos in one dressing room is not good). Here are my five player picks:
Junior Stanislas: West Ham academy product who has already broken in to the first team at a very young age. He can play on either wing or through the middle which means his versatiliy can be used by United when injuries occur to first choice players. Having seen him perform recently i'd say he is a top prospect for the future who is full of confidence, under the guidance of Sir Alex he can become a great. Has the English factor too.
Victor Moses: Same kind of choice as Stanislas. An English youngster who is tiped for big things, he has many Premier League clubs looking at him. He is a regular in the England U-19 set up and look sure to step up to the U-21s. His stock is increased by his versatility, he can play on either wing, attacking midfield, support striker or centre forward. Is a wonderful player for his age and could become one of England's best.
Landon Donovan: The expirienced USA international is a hero in the states, widely regarded as the best US footballer of his generation. He hasn't had much success in terms of club football, however he has proven himself time and time again on the international stage, with over 100 apperances for his country, despite still being in his mid 20's. He is a very mature player and would add depth to our squad with his versatility. Not only this but he would increase United's brand power in the US dramaticly.
Valko Batrovic: The youngest name on my list, the only unproven name on my list, but potentialy the biggest name on my list. The 15 year old Serbian who has been dubed as "The New Messi". Arsenal are said to be close to signing him, but i would love for United to steal in because we would be the perfect club for him, what with our great coaching staff, proven youth development and our major Serbian influence in the team (Ljajic, Vidic and Tosic), He would feel at home with us. We already have "Little Kaka" (Ljajic), I hope to see us sign "Little Messi".
Park Chu Young: Heir to the Korean throne of Park Ji Sung, this national star has been tiped for mega-stardom. He posseses some of the finest technical ability a footballer could wish for, combine that with a renowned footballing brain and Chu Young looks set to be a great. His stock may have taken a tumble after a couple of poor seasons (starting with the 2006 world cup), but he has found his way in to Europe with Monaco and is doing a fine job of impressing everyone. A bit of a gamble, but a boost in far eastern shirt sales should take away that risk.
