Re: Give up your corporate box. We are a team built on a die hard attitude

    Rikki x MuFc:

I agree with the Barcelona post, we were incredible that night and we made the difference

We should be better 70,000 united fans even if half of us sang it would be better than Anfield, Stamford bridge.

     We need to improve,

    FACT Old Trafford>Stamford Bridge

if Chelsea can't get an atmosphere going in a compact 40,000 capacity stadium where the stands are closer to the pitch and the singers closer situated together then they would certainly struggle to improve at Old Trafford where the ground is 30,000 seats bigger, the stands further from the pitch and higher in the sky, where the roofs are bigger and the noise more trapped in as well as the size of the ground and high ticket priced making it impossible for those who want to sing to be located in a group of singers, they will most probably end up 30 throws away from thet small group.

Anfield today, silent against City, silent against Birmingham, silent against Fulham,Hull,Bolton,Blackburn,Stoke,Burnley etc just like Old Trafford will usually be,against United,Chelsea,Arsenal,Everton etc vastly improved as the entire 12,500 Kop stands the whole game. The entire Stretford End tier 1 can stand for the big games where the atmosphere is great, against smaller teams though most of stretty tier 1 is likely to be sat with the sporadic standing because stewards are less lenient and need to be seen to be doing their jobs.

Is it really any coincidence do you think that the atmosphere in all grounds in England are better when its a local derby/bigger game as opposed to a smaller and at times less significant game? Of course it is! Villa park will be dead for Fulham but rocking for Birmingham,Goodison will be dead for Hull bur rocking for Liverpool,White Hart Lane dead against Birmingham but electric against Arsenal.

FACT-since increased ticket prices, the move to all seater stadiums and the refusal to implement safe standing or declare one stand in each ground the official standing block all grounds in England and Scotland suffer from poor consistent atmospheres. Ibrox and Celtic Park are significantly poorer against Falkirk than they are against Inter Milan for example, the stewards encourage standing and the crowd realise their team are the underdogs. Its simple psycology,if pricing was cheaper then more united singing fans would have season tickets,as it is they cannot afford them and have to make do with individual spares in different parts of the ground and therfore highly unlikely to be in the main singing areas except for bigger games!

I'm hoping to go Manchester Uni in 2 years. As long a certain fat yank does not up ticket prices, I'll hopefully be in Stretford End tier 2 then.

i want to do exactly that aswell in 2 years when i leave sixth form. either manchester uni, or somewhere reasonably close, wherever i go, im hoping to get a season ticket for the 11/12 season when ive left home.

there's a few unis relatively close, depends what you want to do.

I'm a RED DEVIL from Durban, South Africa... Unfortunately i haven't been able to make my pilgrimage to OT as YET so all i have to go by is what i hear on the telly... and from my experiences (numerous occassions), our away fans are always heard - we get to hear all the favorite songs being sung at away games but hardly ever hear anything at the home games... Not sure if this has to do with the positioning of the mics on the field but i doubt that...

To the other "foreign fans" - if you understand english and if you are going to be visiting OT soon, i urge you to go through the words on all the songs and learn it off... Quite a few of us United fans here (family and friends) know most of the songs and will definitely be joining in when we do get to the Theatre of Dreams...

Its up to all of us to keep it the Theatre of Dreams i suppose...

BELIEVE!!! and keep cheering our boys on...

it's quite often the case that away fans outsing home fans in all leagues, this is because all the away fans are passionate and prepared to make a big noise and properly support their team. In home grounds, barring maybe one of the stands, all the fans willing to make a loud noise are spread all over the place, and therefore are much quieter. if OT could label one of the other stands, maybe the east one as a singing area, then i think the atmosphere would be immense.

    1. the combined efforts of the fans there could make ot more intimidating for away fans, as the away fans sit on the east- south quadrant. currently the away fans get away with insulting our team and fans without any response.

    2. also having noise coming from both ends of the ground would be brilliant.

thats the place for me when the day comes, unless they've moved to Stretty tier 1 by that time which could be ideal from an atmosphere perspective

    sums it up really

key thing to note is how often the words 'poor except for big games' crops up,that sums up modern football to the tee

i'd say East tier 2 is decent if the right sort of away support takes up half of the tier, games against celtic, barcelona and arsenal I feel the closer segregation has livened up East tier 2.

    Good point,

By the way have you ever sat in north stand tier 3?

The atmosphere there is class and they stand for most of the game.

for the Villa cup game in 06/07 I was just underneath them by a matter of seats but certainly could hear them as I myself was trying to liven up the bit I was in,usually I've been in and around East lower and the bits joining on to North.

An Uncle of mine has tickets from his work that are in the South (the bloke is sound but can't get tickets apart from work so puts up with the dead crowd next to him) and I've managed to be in the Stretty for a few CL games

I'm still trying to get settled,as I don't drive yet the train is the best way for me to get to Old Trafford from the North West as I can't afford two tickets for someone else to drive me or get someone to drive me and then go in by myself! Usually I manage to get the odd spare from some people, will look to get in contact from some in SEF who manage to get tickets frequently, with uni in mind though I'm looking for possible aways to do where I'll have time off, most probably a local away like Bolton or an FA Cup tie.

Certainly once Uni is finished,I'm looking for a ST or a good contact, will most probably end up working in or around manchester for this very reason!

    Atmosphere in stands.

I posted this a while ago on my old account, but another thread has come up about it, so I'd though I would post it again here.

    Stretford End

tier 2 - decent view. fantastic atmosphere. people stand and sing for most of the game

tier 1 - atnosphere good at the bottom few rows. Not great in other parts due to family stand

family stand - atmosphere pretty poor but good place to sit if you're with families

    East Stand

tier 1 - amazing for  the big games but at times been really poor  this season

tier 2 - decent view but awful atmosphere

    North Stand

tier 1 - great view but atmosphere only decent for the big games

tier 2 - good view but hardly anyone there sings

tier 3 -  sat there recently when I swapped tickets for a game. View not great but was suprised that the atmosphere is actually pretty good.

    South Stand

poor atmosphere for nearly all games, however, it's a good place to sit if you're with older people or young children.
