How wrong you are. If you read my posts all I am saying is it is much better toput things in your own words. It makes for better reading rather than just copying off the web. I most certainly am not getting into any slagging match. I won't LOCK my reply as I welcome any comments.

Sapper 1 I do not copy and paste and yes I have got many many many books on United and I do look at these like I have already said if you dont like the posts dont comment simple really isnt it

All we  are doing is posting information about players who we consider United Legends for others to see and bring some much needed threads about legends in the legends section of the forum this is what it this section is for isnt it, if you can do better please do!

HE DID NOT POST THE WRONG INFORMATION. MAINE ROAD IS IN EASTLANDS, AS IS THE CITY OF MANCHESTER. A SECTION IN MANCHESTER WHERE MANCHESTER CITY PLAY THEIR FOOTBALL.

we all know what he meant even if it was wrong, but you are just trying to be completely clever.

No offence but please tell me how I can write a post about a player that played in 1908 of the top of my head, Its blatently obvious that you think you know it all so please tell me,

I'd have thought they would have taught you that in English lessons when you were at school, however, this is how I stop myself from plagarising other peoples work.

    1. Gather all the information you can about the subject

    2. Thoroughly read all that information

    3. Read through it again, this time making notes on what you consider the important parts

    4. Go away and have a cup tea/coffee, whatever floats your boat

    5. Come back to your notes, and write them up as you read through them again, then check for spelling errors etc before posting.

    6. As a matter of habit I write mine up in notepad and save them all, if your spelling is no too hot, use Word, but watch out for the Amercan dictionary.

    7. You should as a matter of courtesy acknowledge souces of imformation for your article.

I use the internet (of course), many of the books on United that I have collected over the years, newspaper articles etc, and my own memories from standing on the Stretford End and various other grounds over the years.

    Hope this helps

What is with the latest trend of just posting a load of text copied from some web site? Then accolades pouring in saying "great post" It might be a great post if the OP used their own words to give it a more sincere feel. Anyone can find info on the web... but how about making it your own? it would be more interesting.

No offence but please tell me how I can write a post about a player that played in 1908 of the top of my head, Its blatently obvious that you think you know it all so please tell me,

we have to use some sort of references to beable to make these posts and we aint doing them for big pats on the back we are doing these just to bring some life back to this section of the forum.

Plus the idea of these posts are to bring information and help to other members of the  site who dont live where we do or dont have the access to some of this information we have

I like the idea of bringing this information to light as it will help many of the posters on here understand more and more about out great club

I think you need to get off your high horse if you aint got anything nice to say just dont say it that way you can stay on that high horse without getting our backs up

I for one am most definately NOT  on any high horse. All I said if you read it properly is it would have been more interesting to read if it was not simply a copy of stuff available on the internet to everyone. For example if you had read through info about the subject and learnt about him and then put it in your OWN WORDS it would have been more interesting and passionate. Thats all I was saying so try not to get too touchy when people make a comment.

I think the idea was jsut to present some information about United Legends, let people read them and react.   So personally I am not that worried about any cut and pasting.  It is not the first time it has happened here (in fact it happens quite a bit) and people give credit to the poster of the info (in my mind their "nice posts" are as much a "thanks for finding and bringing that information to the forums" as anything else).

Re: What's with all the copy paste on Utd "legends" ?

Do not let yourselves be disappointed by 4-4-2's comments. He may (?) be a walking encyclopeadia but there are many on the forum who aren't. Not many people know about all Manchester United's legends. So if this forum is helping them in some ways then there shouldn't be any problem.

Talking about copying from the internet, even schools, colleges, universities use text books or the internet for references. I'm sure 4-4-2 must have first read about the 'Legends' in this forum and then surfed the internet for confirmation. So, in a way it was helpful to 4-4-2.

I still remember a thread where 4-4-2 wrote about a secret potion and gave a list of most of the required ingredients, but failed to name the most important ingredient which he said was unknown to everybody. So, if the ingredient is unknown how can one make that potion?

I think it's proper for the fans to surf the internet while creating their ' Legends' Profiles '  rather than sailing in the unknown.

Re: What's with all the copy paste on Utd "legends" ?

    Totally agree Carpy!

Although my only post was on Viollet.

And as the majority of other posts are of 50/60's legends, i'm not old enough to have seen Viollet, or see hardly any footage of him.

I looked through the net and could only find a handful of sites with information on him. Hence my reason to make "Fans" aware and provide an insight into his overlooked achievements - in respect to our modern day footballers.

I also took exerts from two books for the profile...

Even though it took over a day to produce and list the information in order and make it "flow" - I guess I could easily have wrote a few paragraphs on Roy Keane or Ryan Giggs from my knowledge and experience of growing up and watching them - But what I like about the forum so far, is the chance to read about Legends I was not fortunate to hear about or watch growing up.

This has just led me into purchasing the only exisiting biography available on Dennis Viollet - which I look forward to reading.
