    Re: For our new Mods.

    mc_rafevra,

Just to let you know we are still waiting for a reply from them. It's not being forgotten. I guess they don't respond over the weekend so it may be during the week before we get the reply.

I have already contacted the forum management team about this to get their opinion.

What have they said about it?

No we haven't been instructed to do that and it will not happen with 99.9 per cent of the threads on here.  For threads like this where voting is involved and it is time sensitive then there is little point the thread remaining open after the voting has closed.

That is why I said that you do not have authorisation to lock them because you consider the topic closed......you have said it yourself.

    Re: For our new Mods.

I have already contacted the forum management team about this to get their opinion.  Whether I have overstepped the mark or not is for them to decide and until they give their opinion I will not unlock the thread given that I have taken what I believe to be a common sense decision.

As a moderating team we do have the power to lock threads where we feel it is the appropriate or required action so it is a bit daft of you to say we do not have the authority to do this.  I concede we are still feeling our way into the role and we will make mistakes from time to time as we learn the role, but unless told that directly from the people in authority then we have to publicly stand by the decision we have already made.

    Re: For our new Mods.

Can you give me the contact for forum management then please, otherwise they will not be aware that you are overstepping the mark.

However as you are a mod you should have realised that this is overstepping the mark.

I have asked you to unlock this thread so that I can post on it and you have refused even though you do not have authorisation to do this.

Now please unlock the thread because I have something relevant to say.

It stays locked for the moment.  If someone from the forum management team tells me that I have overstepped the mark in locking it then it will be re-opened.

Then you shouldn't need to lock it because when we have finished discussing it the thread will naturally disappear won't it.

Please can you unlock the thread because I have something to say that is relevant to the point of the thread.

    Re: For our new Mods.

Are you saying that once you decide the thread has served it's purpose we are not entitled to add a post on to it.

Please tell us whether or not you have been instructed to do that because if you have this forum is going to be in a worse state than it was before.

    Re: For our new Mods.

I locked it because voting has now finished, so it has served the purpose that it was opened for.  I don't see there being any relevance for it being open now.  It won't happen often but it seemed to be the common sense approach in this case.

     Gavinio

Would you explain please why you have locked a thread that I wished to post on.  The thread was not offensive in any way.

Is this a new rule.....mods will decide when the posters have finished discussing something and lock the thread?

Always worth looking around the other forums first before assuming it has just been deleted.  If it had been deleted you would have received an email telling you why it was deleted because the system automatically generates them.
