Re: Chelsea and United Battle for 20 Million Pound J.Rodwell

He is a top player and although £20million is alot and probably £5million too much that is the price clubs have to pay for the best English players.

Were we to get him then i think someones place in the squad would be in danger.

£20 million for an unproven 18 year old, what a stupid thing to do.

I'm guessing that you forgot that Fergie spent not 20 million, but 30 million on an unproven 18 year old who came from the same club and youth academy.

    The end result?

He is the best second striker in the world right now and he is currently wearing #10.

Not really that unproven with a couple of seasons in the PL and a few games for the national team. But I get your point anyway.

Rodwell is not the same extreme talent as Rooney was then but if Sir Alex is sure that he will be in the team for the next decade then 20 million is peanuts. And because he lives nearby and probably planning on living in England for the rest of his career it's not like we expect and nasty surprises not to adapt now nor in the future.

he is a great player, however we already have fantastic Defensive midfielder, in Fletcher and Hagreaves. If we do buy him, I think SAF will convert him to a cb position.(however i am not in favor of that). It will complicated to see where he will fit in our squad.

                              Akinfeev                                                                                            Foster

Rodwell             Vidic                                                          O'Shea        Ferdinand     Evans        Brown

    Rafeal            Hagreaves                Evra                                                             Rodwell         Carrick

    Valencia          Fletcher             Anderson/Silva                              Park/Welbeck                                         Obertan/Tosic

             Rooney             Berbatov/Villa                                                                 Owen            Macheada

    Manchester United forever :D

I would love us to get Rodwell!

He would be the perfect foil that would allow Ando to bomb forward and get in on the attack!

A midfield with Rodwell and Ando could very well develop into the legendary midfield combo of Keano and Scholesy of old.

I think we should do all we can to get  him.

We paid 30 million pounds for Rooney, so why not pay 20 million pounds for Rodwell?

He can and will turn out to be as fantastic a signing as Rooney.

dont do it SAF...hope he doesnt get him...

We have a lot of youngsters coming up...Evans is already there in the first team, Chester and Cathcart look like coming up to first team soon, We ve got Fornasier, Brown,Corry Evans and much more coming up in few years. Dodo might be joining us aswell so there is no need for us to buy defenders.De laet also plays as a Centreback so we are good for the future.

Well, sadly, Jack Rodwell is better than our young players... plus, he's english. Imagine having him play in the defensive midfield area... ahead of Johny Evans and maybe Craig Cathcart... with both Fabio and Rafael bombing down the wings... we could play a defensive 3-5-2 in the future.

                               New Keeper?

                   Evans                       Cathcart?
                                 Rodwell
    Rafael                                                         Fabio

                      Fletcher             Anderson
                                   Ramsey

                 Striker?                       Rooney

seriously ramsey mate you have some imagination...unfourtunately not a helpful one...ramsey is definately going to be great...but arsenal know this tooo and are not stupid enough as you know who i mean here to let him go to their rivals.....and by the way why would there need to a 3-5-2 as if 4-3-3 does not work enough you have to come up with another ridiculos formation...tell me against passing team and quick counter attack teams how the heck is this going to work..by the time rodwell becomes good enough to be in the 1st team...fletcher would be around 28 or 29...and thats a good enough time for both to be rotated around...we dont have to change our entire formation for one player who still has not joined the club or we have a clue he might....cause after all its just paper speculation.

I think we have a very good chance of signing Rodwell. It seems as we have the advantage ahead of Chelsea as he can stay in the north west. Also the thought of playing at Old Trafford alongside Rooney would be brilliant experience for him.Its been reported that Chelsea had a bid of around 14milllion turned down while we value him slightly higher.I think we should sign him.Hes very young can only get better is English and is very verstille he can play in midfield and in defence and we can bring him here as aplayer for the future who we can develop.

I think we could sign him in Janaury i know Everton will want to keep him but at they might find it hard to keep him like they did with Rooney so who knows Fergie does seem keen on him i just hope we dont miss out on this young talent.I really hope we sign Villa and Silva but i think we may have to wait till the summer to sign these.I think these three players plus a new keeper if VDS retires like Akinfeev and a new defender like Cahill/Kjaer.Lahm then our squad will be complete in my opinion.

How did Ramsey get in there,he is a brilliant player but we will never be able to get him...We had our chance to get him but Arsene flew him and his family and persuaded Ramsey to join Arsenal....SAF was in a deserved break after winning the Premier League and Champions League...Things like that happe, you just move on with it. We have some fantastic midfielders coming up from our youth and reserves so we are fine.Nothing to beat ourselves about.

I have to say whenever i have seen Rodwell play he has been extremely impressive.  i would say good signing even for 20m as he will be worth that in 3 years easily.

Also would like to see united try to sign Di Maria if Fergie decides to get rid of nani.

And possibly another striker if were feeling greedy.

Even if SAF is in good terms with David Moyes i dont think we should spend 20 million on Jack Rodwell,20 million is almost the cost for david silva ,he would be a better buy.
